Pregnancy in Puerto Rico

According to the Department of Health of Puerto Rico is the largest registry of young pregnant cup was in 2004. The percentage of young pregnant women in 2004 was with 29% between the ages of 10 to 14 years of age.  In 2006 was recorded in fewer births, but regustro greater number of abortions and unwanted abortions sought. The percentage of births for 2006 was reduced to 18%.

Daily, according to data from the Division of Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Department. And though St. John is the municipality with the highest population rate, are the people of Vieques, Loiza, Maricao and Cataño those with the highest rates of teen pregnancy.

According to psychologist Norma Delgado, Program Comprehensive Health Services for Adolescents, by the year 2000 there were 67 live births per 1,000 young people between 15 and 19.
